The Illinois Department of Revenue is hosting a pair of Employment Initiative Workshops in Springfield. The free workshops are for recent graduates or graduating students to find work with the Department. The workshops will offer the chance to learn about employment opportunities and the procedures and criteria for applying.

Rep. Sara Wojcicki Jimenez (R-Springfield) today joined leaders in agriculture and the Springfield community in discussing legislation to create a State Fairgrounds Foundation. The legislation, co-sponsored by Jimenez and introduced in the past by former Rep. Raymond Poe, would create a foundation to enable private fundraising for the State Fair and other events at the fairgrounds.

Springfield - Higher education funding, MAP grant funding, and a nine month-long battle over the state's 2016 fiscal year budget are all major things still unresolved at the Capitol.

For the next few weeks, it'll be a place with only half of the General Assembly in attendance.

"I think that's unacceptable.  We obviously have a lot of things that we could be working on and we should be working on.  I'm coming to work everyday still.  The senate is in session, and they're in session several days this month; the house is not, and that's unacceptable," said Sara Wojcicki Jimenez (R-Springfield).

Illinois House Republicans, furious about the lack of a state budget and seemingly empty session calendar thus far this year, challenged House Democrat leadership today to not adjourn as scheduled for the entire month of March.

State Representative Sara Wojcicki Jimenez (R-Springfield) today called on Republicans and Democrats to work together to pass legislation funding MAP grants and higher education in Illinois. Jimenez's call for compromise came before the House voted on a motion to override the Governor's veto of an unfunded higher education appropriation bill. Jimenez is a co-sponsor of House Bill 4539, which funds MAP grants and higher education while identifying a source of revenue to pay for the bill.
