Rep. Jimenez Lauds Passage of Bi-Partisan Emergency Higher Education Funding

Statement of State Representative Sara Wojcicki Jimenez on Passage of Senate Bill 2059 as amended:

“I am very pleased that Republicans and Democrats were able to work together to provide desperately needed funding for our colleges and universities across Illinois, and to fund students’ MAP grants. The passage of this higher education emergency appropriations bill is a testament to what is possible when rank and file members put politics aside and do what is best for our constituents. I will continue to work in a bipartisan manner to solve the budget impasse and get Illinois on the right track. The passage of this bill is a good first step towards hopefully finding a comprehensive budget solution.”

                                             - State Representative Sara Wojcicki Jimenez (R-Leland Grove)

The Legislation allocates $600 million from the Educational Assistance Fund to provide stop-gap funding for universities and community colleges, and to fund one semester of MAP grants for students.
